MP3Script Menu
System
The script menu system has been rewritten. It can now be run by what is being referred to as a GUI (graphical user interface) Menu System. This will allow the user to set all the options at once and not have to keep accessing the channel menu for each option. To use this system, your display must be in 600 x 800-pixel mode. To check which display resolution you are currently using, follow the simple steps below.
1. |
From the Windows95 Desktop, right click the center of your screen. |
2. |
Next, select Properties. |
3. |
Select the Settings Tab. |
4 |
Look in the box titled Desktop area. This must read 800 by 600 pixels. |
To make any changes to your display, please follow the manufacturer's directions you received with your PC.
If you can not run at this screen resolution, the standard channel menus are still available. In the next release work will continue to allow all screen resolutions. The Menus are displayed below with a brief description for each. Click on the menu for a more detailed explanation of each menu.
The Main Menu allows access to all options and GUIs. Click the button for the item you wish to access. The Play button will allow you to access the GUI Player. The Options Button will allow you to access Options 1 and Options 2 menus along with the Multiple Channel Announcements. The Help button will open this help file. The Setup button will allow access to the Setup Menu and the Mplate Menus. |

The GUI Player is designed to function like winamp to make the mIRC users feel more at ease using it. The GUI panel in this version shows information about the length of the song, the bitrate of the song, the quality (i.e. STEREO or MONO) and also the name of the file. The Black window in the center of the GUI panel shows information concerning the different buttons of the player as your mouse cursor is moved over the button, to provide instant information to you about the function of that button. If you are still having problems understanding their functions then this help file is always here. Another added feature is the ability to change the facial appearance of the GUI Player. Some backgrounds are already out there but making them is as simple as using a .BMP file and reformatting the file to fit the player. This allows you to make and share your own ideas. Please refer to Setup Select GUI Background Setup for more information on how to make these changes |

The Options for the script have been split into 2 GUIs. Options - 1 displayed at the left and Options - 2 displayed below. This is where the color code of the buttons is used. Shown at the bottom of Options - 1 is a legend explaining what each different color indicates. All these menus were designed to remain displayed until you have completed all the options you wish to enable or disable. At that point you can either click the X in the upper right corner or minimize to your mIRC bar. In this GUI you can enable or disable a variety of options. Each section should be clearly marked. For more information click the picture displayed to the left. Each option will be discussed in more detail. The major areas covered in this GUI are CD ROM LAN support which offers the user the ability to use a CD that has mp3s on it or if you are connected to a network. Have multiple mp3 players and the various settings for sending mp3 files, a list, and what to do if someone leaves a channel. This is where the @locator is set also. It will be discussed in more detail in the Options - 1 help. The various services can also be completed from |

this menu. You can check the DCCStats of a fellow script user, or their QueStats, and also access Help from them. At the bottom of the screen is a gray button titled Channel Announcements. This will open the Channel Announcement GUI. To access Options - 2 GUI from the top of Options - 1 click the gray box. This will close Options - 1 but you can always re-access Options - 1 from Options - 2. Options - 2 is displayed on the left. Plenty of room has been allocated for new items that will be available in future releases. To get a more detailed explanation of the options available on Options - 2, click the picture on the left. |

The script has timers built in for displaying certain messages to the channel. Be careful these messages have color and will repeat every 10 minutes. Some channels do not allow these. Use these at your own risk. We have received several requests from users that are in multiple channels at one time and wish to have the normal channel announcements displayed in all channels along with the ability to automatically restart the messages if dropped from a channel. We have now allowed for up to 3 channels for announcements (List, FTP, @Locator) select the channel names and the message(s) you wish to have displayed. If you select manual and are dropped from a channel you must restart the message(s). If you select Start - Auto and are dropped from a channel, 10 minutes after you have rejoined, the message(s) will start to redisplay in the pre-determined channels. NOTE: If you have another channel selected in the Multi channel setup, and are not in the second or third channel, the script will display your file plays twice into the main channel that you are in. It is best to disable the other channels if you are not in them. |

Here we have one of the most important parts of the script. This controls whether or not a message is sent to the channel letting others know that you are playing songs. It also controls whether additional information is sent along with the song or not, information such as how to get the song from you and if you have your Auto-list up and running. We will discuss each one in detail. |

This is another feature we've added that we think will be something everyone will use. After watching the script colors for over a year, those of us that understood the script a little started coloring our play displays. Some of us got pretty good at it, but it was still time consuming and cumbersome to do. We thought about random color, easy for the scripter to setup, but it looked rather bad with most of the displays. We wanted full control of our coloring and editing, and the Mplate allows you to do just that. Not only will you be able to save your Mplate into a file, but you can share them with others as well. Now to explain just how to go about making your first Mplate. As you look at the Mplate GUI, you'll see the following options, Mplate Display Status, Mplate coloring Table, Mplate Options. |
The last option is the Advanced Mplate Editor. Here you can customize your Mplates, moving the variables around, add or replacing text and designing as you see fit. A few added variables not in the basic Mplate GUI are available for use with the Advanced Mplate Editor.
Please note: The maximum length of ANY Mplate is 255 characters once all the variables have been filled. If you exceed this number you will not display all your information.
There are a couple of ways to use the Advanced Mplate Editor. I’ll show you how to edit an exsiting Mplate first.
